The Corning Hawks Softball team was honored by the Board of Education last evening!
The team began their post-season by defeating the Elmira Express in the Section IV Class AAA Championship. Matti Johnston threw a no-hitter as our Hawks soared to a 5-0 victory.
Our Hawks then traveled to North Rockland for the regional final. We had an impressive 11 hits and timely outs on defense to defeat North Rockland 6-5. Corning was peaking and off to the Final Four! At this time our Hawks were ranked fifth in the state, third among public school teams and our opponent, Saratoga, was ranked fourth, second in public school teams. The Hawks defeated Saratoga 6-4 and were headed to the State Championship game!
Our Hawks faced Fairport in the NYSPHSAA Class AAA Championship! Our girls started strong, scoring 2 runs in the first inning. Matti Johnston threw a 2 hitter and Corning had 16 hits to
defeat Fairport 8-2! This Corning Hawks Softball team consists of players ranging from 7th grade all the way through 12th grade. An impressive season for these ladies and first time EVER to win as Class AAA! Congratulations!

Celebrate 60 years of theater!

Corning-Painted Post Winter Guard won the Northeast Color Guard Circuit Championship today at Gates Chili in the Regional A Class!
Coming in 1st out of 7, the group scored an 85.94 which is the highest score in the group’s history.
The group also won the George O. Cowburn "Esprit De Corps" Memorial Award, an award given to the group who best exemplifies the qualities that George promoted. Dedication to the activity, good sportsmanship, integrity, honor, and a willingness to help others in the Circuit.
The CPP Winter Guard is made up of 12 students in 8-12th grade.
