It was a showcase of reading skills at Winfield Elementary School yesterday as students in Mrs. Bonomo’s room presented a Thanksgiving Readers Theater. The second graders each took a turn to read a part of five stories and as a group, concluded with a song. Stories included, The Scarecrow’s Song, 5 Flying Turkeys, Possum’s Harvest Moon, Wishbone, Wishbone, and Turkey for Thanksgiving. The song was Albuquerque Turkey.
At the conclusion of the event, Christy Parsons, Marketing and Community Specialist at First Heritage Federal Credit Union, presented students with new monthly books to continue growing their collection. Books included The New Tribe, Who Took the Cookbook and The Frog Prince. Community Partner First Heritage formed a reading partnership with the school and has maintained that for several years.
