Our Erwin Valley Lions Explore Career Possibilities
School Counselor Heather Loud in collaboration with teacher Emily Presser coordinated a Career Exhibition event for 5th graders at Erwin Valley Elementary School earlier this spring. In extension of their career guidance lesson, 5th graders could do an optional project that required them to conduct research, design a poster, and write a speech about a career that aligned with their interests and strengths. Mrs. Loud said,
“Teachers, families, and fellow classmates visited the exhibition, where our very brave EV Lions shared the educational paths, skills, and tools needed for nineteen different careers!”
Careers included bank teller, product safety engineer, fashion designer, guitarist, photographer, lawyer, teacher, marriage and family therapist, hair-stylist, paramedic, sports competitor, fine artist, veterinarian, correctional officer, law enforcement officer, video game designer, singer, multimedia animator, and art therapist.
In addition, Mrs. Loud said, “Special thanks to the following people for their time, energy, and help to make this event possible: The 5th grade team of teachers and family/caregivers, Social Worker Angela Quinones, EV custodians, Consultant Teacher Melissa Noel, Music Teachers Shanelle Stoker and Sara Pulver, and local business Pip's Boutique.”
