Reason for seeking a seat on the CPP Board of Education:

"I’m running for a seat on C-PP’s next school board because parents across the district keep telling me the same thing: they want schools that expect more from our kids and prepare them for real life, not just the next test. As a parent of two young children and an educator with nearly 25 years of classroom experience, along with three years as a department leader, I believe deeply in the power of strong public schools to shape confident, capable, and compassionate young people. I’ve spent my entire career working directly with students, families, and fellow educators, and have seen firsthand what happens when schools are supported, well resourced, and guided by thoughtful leadership.

I thrive on initiating and collaborating to build relationships and bring people together. Whether I’m working with teachers to strengthen curriculum or partnering with families to support student success, I approach every challenge with energy, optimism, and a commitment to doing what’s best for students. My organizational skills help me stay focused on long term goals while managing the day to day details that keep a school community running smoothly.

Most importantly, I’m truly passionate about ensuring every student has access to the highest quality education possible. Our children deserve schools that are safe, inclusive, academically rigorous, and responsive to their needs. They deserve leaders who listen, who understand the realities of the classroom, and who are willing to advocate for the resources and opportunities that help them succeed.

I’m running because I want to bring a parent’s perspective, an educator’s expertise, and a community minded spirit to the board. I aim to foster a school system where every child feels supported, every teacher feels valued, and every family feels heard. "

Reason for seeking a seat on the CPP Board of Education:

I benefitted from a strong K-12 public education, and know that every child in our community deserves the same. I am a librarian by trade, and have spent the last thirteen years working in and with public libraries in New York state. Prior to that, I served two years in public middle schools as an AmeriCorps member. In all roles, I witnessed firsthand how public education acts as a cornerstone of democracy, and my goal is to continue that support.

I view serving on the school board as a type of community care, and will use it as an opportunity to promote equity for all. I strongly oppose censorship, and emphatically encourage community conversations. I recognize that teachers and staff have jobs that are both rewarding and incredibly difficult-- truths that may make themselves known in the same day, or even in the same hour of the day! These lived experiences are what strengthen C-PP, and will help the district to continue to evolve. My belief is that conscientious board members should bring their expertise to the table, while also being prepared to learn from the expertise of all other stakeholders in the community.

Reason for seeking a seat on the CPP Board of Education:

As the husband of a 3rd grade teacher at Carder Elementary School, father of a 6th grader and a 2nd grader, and treasurer of the Carder PTA, I have seen first-hand how teachers, staff, and parents can partner together to ensure our schools have the necessary supports, services, and programs to create an engaging student centered learning environment. Through photographing stories of community building and belonging in our school district, I have witnessed an affirming vision of public education where a place exists for every student. And my career in nonprofits has given me extensive insights into how to be a responsible and accountable custodian of the community’s resources, how to listen with an unbiased ear and calm temperament, and how to collaborate to foster lasting partnerships. All of these experiences have provided me with the tools to champion a district where all students have the opportunity to learn with well-being and dignity, to advocate for inclusive and accessible classrooms, and to empower teachers and staff to address the unique, individual learning needs of all students.
