Work ethic and team-centered thinking earns HSLC student recognition

“She has a wonderful work ethic and team-centered thinking,” said local artist Jennifer Sekella, about High School Learning Center student Emily McEnroe. Emily was nominated by Sekella for a C-PP Board of Education “Excellence in Action” recognition. This award by the Board recognizes recipients for going above and beyond, in the name of excellence. Emily was recognized by Board member Kelley Bacalles, on behalf of the entire Board of Education, during the Thursday, October 17 HSLC graduation at Corning Community College.

Sekella said, “Emily has been working for me on and off for over a year since I met her at the Rockwell Museum’s Garden of Fire event in 2018. She is such a joy to have working for me and is a fantastic representation of all that is possible at the High School Learning Center.”

She added, “This year, she managed to engage five different volunteers from the school for three different events. She’s always willing to help me brainstorm ways to get more people involved.” Sekella said, “Emily is always interested in learning more and will tell me about any concerns, offer encouragement or speak with pride about her fellow students. She is an example for all young people today.”
