Excerpt from the NYSED Press Release: The New York State Education Department, in partnership with the New York State Middle School Association and the Statewide Network of Middle Level Liaisons, recognized five new schools as 2019 Essential Elements: Schools to Watch (EE:STW), Commissioner MaryEllen Elia announced today. The designation is awarded to exceptional middle level schools that meet rigorous criteria and are on a path of continuous improvement.
“All of these remarkable middle schools are dedicated to the children they serve,” Chancellor Betty A. Rosa said. “The teachers and school leaders in each of these schools are steadfast in their commitment to excellence, as well as continuous improvement.”
“These exemplary schools are working hard to achieve positive outcomes for their students,” Commissioner Elia said. “The middle school years represent a period of personal growth and development for young adolescents, preparing them for success in high school and thereafter.”
Superintendent Michael Ginalski comments on the recognition: "We are pleased and extremely proud that CPP Middle School received this prestigious designation. This is the top honor a middle school can receive in New York State and it’s a testament to the leadership and drive of Principal Rick Kimble and his team and proof that the staff at the middle school has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and their students in particular. I could not be more proud of Mr. Kimble and his staff."
