The Corning-Painted Post Area School District’s Pupil Personnel Department proudly presents: Special Connections, Beyond High School, Continuing Education and Work. It is an evening dedicated to helping parents and guardians of special education students chart their child’s post-secondary path scheduled for November 15, 2018 at the Corning-Painted Post High School in the cafeteria from 5:30 to 8pm. Light refreshments will be provided and child care is also available.
Regarding the event, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Ms. Jennifer Batzing shares, “Connecting our families and students with members of our community is a priority. Research tells us that it is our relationships that support our happiness, health and well-being. We support our families in making essential connections to community agencies, organizations and supports.”
Themes that will be covered throughout the evening include: Academic Supports/Services in College, Securing Accommodations, Trade/Occupational Programs, Entrance Requirements, Employment Services, Diploma and Certificate Paths.
Participating partners for the Special Connections event include, but are not limited to: GST BOCES Adult Continuing Career and Education Services, Corning Community College, C-PP School Counselors, OPWDD, Steuben County Mental Health and the ARC of Steuben.
C-PP’s Transition Coordinator, Ms. Ellie Vaughan excitingly shares on the upcoming event, “Our goal is to offer a series of topic-centered presentations throughout the school year for families in our community and to connect them with available resources and supports.”
