Excellence in Action Award Recipient: Ms. Tammie Edinger, C-PP Middle School Teacher and Good Morning Hawks Adviser
“Excellence in Action is not just an award; rather, it is an apt descriptor for Tammie Edinger, teacher, advisor, and integral part of Corning-Painted Post Middle School.” That is how C-PP Middle School Assistant Principal Ms. Lori Pruyne described Ms. Edinger in the nomination letter she wrote to the Board of Education.
Excellence in Action is recognition by the Corning-Painted Post Board of Education and is awarded to those who have gone above and beyond in the District’s mission, “Students are the center of all we do.”
Ms. Edinger is the advisor for “Good Morning Hawks” – the daily video show produced by middle school students and broadcast to their entire school. It consists of a variety of news, information and engaging content.
Corning Teachers’ Association President Leslie Kapur also wrote a nomination letter to the Board of Education. She said, “I began working with Tammie in 2005 as a middle school teacher at CFA. Tammie led the way on many initiatives for our team. She always went above and beyond to develop opportunities to benefit our sixth grade students.” She added, “She produced Good Morning Hawks throughout March to June and provided the students and staff at the Middle School consistency – something all of the stakeholders could tune into every morning and continue to feel a part of the Middle School Hawk Community. Her work was tireless – and she did it willingly.”
The award was presented on behalf of the Board of Education by Board Member Margie Lawlor in the Good Morning Hawks Studio at the Middle School. In presenting a plaque, Ms. Lawlor read the words on it, which stated, “Thank you for leading us with your technology gifts to make virtual C-PP a dynamic place for learning.”
