National Poetry Month Project at High School

Librarians Ms. Martinec and Ms. Robarge from CPP High School have planned an exciting program in honor of National Poetry Month in April. In an effort to promote reading, poetry and school connections, every CPP High School faculty member has received a copy of author Jason Reynolds’ book For Every One.

The text of the book was performed by Reynolds at the Kennedy Center unveiling of the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial. This poetic and lyrical book encourages the reader to dream and use their imagination to find happiness. The goal of this project is to spread the message of the book and pass the book on to someone who might benefit from reading it. Teachers are encouraged to find a student to talk to about the book and pass the book to him/her.

The passing forward of the book is promoted inside the front cover. A tracking of the number of readers and their locations is also encouraged. A Google map has been created on the main page of the CPP High School Library. Readers can log their participation in this program and see how many others have been a part of this initiative.

Our librarians are hoping that hundreds of readers will be impacted by Reynolds’ message about daring to dream and believing in the power of dreams.
