Chapter H School Psychologist of the Year Award Recipient
Dr. Heather Stempin is a School Psychologist at Corning-Painted Post Area School District. Jolene L. Koehler, MAS/CAS, NCSP Chapter H Representative said, “Her colleagues describe her as child-centered, professional and thorough in her consultation and abilities to listen to all perspectives. Her accomplishments and lives she has touched, shown through this nomination process as she received amazing letters of recommendation from her supervisor, past students, and colleagues. Additionally, she dedicates her work to taking on graduate level interns from Alfred University to help them learn beyond the classroom. Over time in her professional career, she has come to learn the value of relationships and personal human connection as one of the most important aspects of her daily functioning. Each recommendation letter acknowledged that about her and we are all proud to have her represent our five counties as Chapter H's School Psychologist of the Year.”
Dr. Stempin was honored by the Board of Education, last month, during a Board Meeting. She was also honored virtually at the Chapter H annual conference, in October.
Director of Pupil Personnel Services Jennifer Batzing said, “Heather is an accomplished, dedicated and passionate school psychologist. We are proud to honor her!”
Dr. Stempin said, “I would like to offer my deepest thanks to everyone who had a hand in this recognition. I’m truly honored. As educators, we often aren’t able to know our impact on others. This recognition has been a heartwarming opportunity to hear the kindest words of acknowledgement. In turn, I’d like to recognize all of those I work with every day. The work that I do is made possible by being part of an incredible educational community. I’m very grateful to be part of such a supportive environment.”
Chapter H consists of Chemung, Livingston, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties.
