Science in Our High Schools

Rigorous, Integrated Instruction

Through cross-disciplinary study, C-PP high school students gain a more in-depth understanding of scientific principles, their practical use and the effect of science on the world. In each Science course, students gain a body of knowledge in addition to learning and applying scientific methods and techniques. Students develop their abilities to analyze, evaluate and synthesize scientific information while in the classroom and lab. For International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) students, a compulsory project encourages them to consider the environmental, social and ethical implications of Science. This project is collaborative and interdisciplinary, and gives students the opportunity to explore scientific solutions to real world, global questions.

At this level, Science courses also serve to expose students to a variety of possible careers. Throughout the high school years, various science and medical professionals are brought in as speakers, sharing their experience and expertise.

Dedicated Faculty Teams

Like all C-PP faculty, our high school Science teachers are life-long learners. They continually hone their skills and stay informed through continuing education. In fact, some C-PP teachers attend workshops at no cost to the District thanks to the Cornell Institute for Biology Teachers.
