C-PP Science Smart Facts

Student learning is assessed through key New York State Science exams required for all students in grades 4, 8 and 9. High school students sit for additional Regents exams as dictated by their class schedule. International Baccalaureate Diploma Program students in Grades 11 and 12 participate in rigorous IB tests and coursework evaluations. The following statistics reflect recent NYS test results:

 

Elementary

89% of 4th graders passed the NYS Science exam in 2006-2007

 

Middle School

8th grade honors students took Biology for the first time in 2006-2007 and achieved a 100% passing rate on the Living Environment Regents exam

 

High School

89% of all 9th grade students passed the Living Environment Regents in 2006-2007 and C-PP IB Diploma Program students average exam grades exceeded the worldwide average in Biology HL*, Biology SL and Chemistry SL

 

*HL stands for Higher Level (2-year) course; SL stands for Standard Level (1-year) course
