Learning Goals

All decisions about curriculum and instruction in the Corning-Painted Post Areas School District are grounded in the following equation:

Rigor + Relevance + Relationships = Educational Excellence

Each of these new Three Rs has its own set of goals and attributes, which can be explored through the following links.

  • Rigor: All students will demonstrate mastery of the fundamental skills and competencies needed for success in a rapidly changing world.
  • Relevance: All students will demonstrate readiness for adult roles by applying fundamental academic skills and competencies to personal, community and workplace settings.
  • Relationships: All students, parents and community will work together to create a positive, respectful environment that supports excellence in learning, teaching and leadership.

These concepts have been the foundation of District efforts to pursue educational excellence since 2002. More and more, Rigor, Relevance and Relationships are being adopted by other school districts across America, and they even have been validated by a number of educational experts including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
