Educational Excellence
The Corning-Painted Post Area School District is strongly committed to excellence in instruction and learning for all students. In my former role as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, I was charged with leading an ambitious effort toward improved performance for ALL District students. Over five years -- from 2002 until 2007 -- this effort (known as Quantum Leap) changed the culture of C-PP schools to one in which every curricular decision we make is weighed against the widely hailed formula: Rigor + Relevance + Relationships = Educational Excellence. As a result of a strong focus on these new Three Rs, the following major programs were implemented to improve instruction and learning District-wide:
Each of these programs is designed to bring Rigor, Relevance and Relationships into meaningful learning experiences for all C-PP students every day - helping more students achieve at higher levels faster. Despite this, the full impact of these improvements may be slow to present itself in the District's standardized test results. The changes put in place today are an investment in our future that will most benefit our youngest students as they progress through our school system. It is important to understand that student performance responds gradually to changes in the instructional framework, but we are certain that over time these six programs will make a significant positive difference in outcomes for many C-PP students.
The pace and scope of change in this District has been unprecedented, and I commend our teaching staff for rising to the challenge of integrating the many changes we have made in recent years. Advances in technology and other shifts in society have reshaped our economy and created a world that is very different than it was even 10 years ago. I believe the course we've set will help C-PP students to meet all local, state and national learning standards and reach their maximum potential in school and in life.
