Family & Student Support
Team
At
Kent Phillips School, it is our goal to promote POSITIVE
CHARACTER throughout our day! To help with this, our
school participates in the Character Link Program.
You might hear your child tell you that he or she earned
a “respect or responsibility or caring or honesty link”
that day in school. If you wonder what this means,
please read on!!

Goal of the Week
Character Link Program
Who is involved?
ALL
staff and students – from kitchen, to custodial, to
assistants, to teachers, to office.
What happens?
·
When you see or hear a student exhibiting
a “character behavior,” issue a “Character Link” to him
or her.
·
If a student sees or hears a behavior,
he/she can ask you for a link and fill it out for the
deserving student or adult.
What are examples of “character behaviors?”See
the next page…
How do the Character Links work?
-
When a link is filled
out, place it in the link bag.
-
On Friday, Mrs. Slavin
will tally the week’s links for your class. The
number of links your room earned will be written on
your class beaver in the main lobby.
-
Mrs. Slavin will then
“link” your class’s links for you to hang in your
room on Monday. The Classroom Character Link Chain
can be displayed in your room all year and will be
used in our end of the year assembly.
Thank you so much for your support!

Goal of the Week
Program
The
objectives of the Goal of the Week Program are to
address school-wide behaviors we all expect and
character-building traits we would like our students to
incorporate into their lives.
Here is how it works:
1.
Students assisting with this project will be chosen
by Kent Phillips' staff.
-
Students who
consistently exhibit positive character traits
-
Students who need
recognition for extra positive efforts (academics
and/or behaviors)
-
E-mail the
student's name and reason for nomination to Mrs.
Chester.
2.
A new goal will be posted every 2 weeks:
-
A poster will be
in staff mailboxes every other Thursday.
Please hang this in the classroom.
3.
Mini-lesson ideas to help teachers teach the goal in
the classroom will be e-mailed to teachers.
-
Please use the
ideas as a guide to help teach the goal.
-
The most
important thing is that the students are hearing the
goal and having opportunities to practice it.
4.
The
GOW students will read the Goal of the Week over the PA
system each morning.
-
Students need to
be in the main office by 8:55AM on the days they are
reading the goal.
-
Please help some
students remember when to come to the office.
Thank you very much for your help with this project!
