International Baccalaureate - The DP is Challenging, but Manageable

Learning to make choices and set priorities between school work and other activities is healthy for high school students, as they will have to do it throughout their lives. East and West High students are encouraged to think through these choices with their parents, IB Coordinators and guidance counselors.

Experience has shown that EHS and WHS students are able to manage the DP course load along with their other commitments. As a result, registrations have increased each year. In fall 2008, C-PP reported more than 677 course registrations in DP courses.

Support for DP students

The District is committed to supporting IB Diploma Program students and their parents. A dedicated team of teachers is working hard to make sure all requirements are known and understood. DP teachers actively coordinate major assignments to avoid overlapping deadlines and exam dates to help manage student work loads and to eliminate duplicate or unnecessary extra work for students.
In addition, the DP Coordinators at East and West High Schools communicate frequently with everyone to address questions and concerns. Information is delivered through a variety of methods, including email, parent and student meetings, school newsletters, the C-PP Web site, teacher Web sites, regional news media and informational brochures.
