Diploma Program

In 2005, Corning-Painted Post Area School District was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Program (DP) to juniors and seniors at both East and West High Schools.

In July 2007, 20 students from East and West earned the full International Baccalaureate diploma. Each year, enrollment in Diploma Program courses has steadily increased, from the first group of 152 certificate candidates to nearly 300 for the 2007-2008 school year. We expect enrollment will continue to as the program becomes better established and more familiar to C-PP students and their families.

The IB Diploma Program (DP) curriculum is widely recognized as the most prestigious college prep program in the world. The program is challenging but manageable for most hard working students who want to be challenged, to earn college credits and to improve their college admission potential.

In our District, the DP is an optional program for East and West High students. Students can choose to:

Ø take individual  DP courses for certification

Ø pursue the full IB diploma

Ø pursue a standard Regents diploma

Those who graduate with an IB diploma have a credential that proves that they rank among the very best students in the world. Because the IB Diploma Program is so rigorous, the C-PP Board of Education has approved weighted grades for all DP courses to ensure the grading system is fair for students who have chosen this rigorous course of study.
