Educating for Excellence

Rigor + Relevance + Relationships = Educational Excellence

Partners in Education

C-PP has been extremely fortunate to have the Corning Incorporated Foundation as its Quantum Leap and International Baccalaureate partner.

During the five years since Quantum Leap began, the Corning Foundation has provided generous grants to support C-PP teacher training, IB fees and materials, QL and IB communications to teachers, parents and community members – and much more. Now that the QL grant period has expired, the Corning Foundation has continued its commitment to the deployment of the International Baccalaureate programs in C-PP schools through a separate grant.

The District is committed to the continuation of the IB programs in our middle and high schools, and District leaders are taking the necessary steps to ensure IB costs will be covered within the normal operating budget when the Corning Incorporated Foundation grants expire.

Will resident taxes increase to pay for IB?

The generous donations provided by the Foundation have been used to cover program implementation costs, the greatest portion of which was for teacher training. These expenses will be reduced significantly within the next two years. Ongoing operational costs can be absorbed in C-PP’s budget with little if any impact on taxpayers.

It’s important to remember that many factors influence the annual tax levy, including state funding and expenses such as maintenance, transportation, contract agreements, state and federal mandates and staffing (these items alone represent more than 90% of the total budget). The public has the opportunity to vote on the school budget every year in May.
