The Full Diploma Program

Students who graduate with an IB diploma have a credential that proves that they rank among the very best students in the world.

Over the course of the two-year program, students:

Ø study six subjects chosen from the six subject groups

Ø complete an Extended Essay

Ø follow a Theory of Knowledge course (TOK)

Ø participate in Creativity, Action, Service (CAS).

Normally, three of the six subjects are studied at higher level (two-year courses representing 240 teaching hours). The remaining three subjects are studied at standard level (one-year courses representing 150 teaching hours). Students must achieve a total of 24 out of a possible 45 points to earn the diploma.

In July 2007, 20 successful Diploma Program candidates from the inaugural DP class at East and West High schools were awarded the full International Baccalaureate diploma. The average points obtained by successful C-PP candidates was 31. Seven students did not earn the minimum points required.

Currently, there are:

Ø 40 C-PP Seniors who are candidates eligible for the IB diploma in 2008

Ø 37 C-PP Juniors who are in the first year of the Diploma Program.

Because the IB Diploma Program is so rigorous, The C-PP Board of Education has approved weighted grades for all DP courses to ensure the grading system is fair for students who have chosen this rigorous course of study.
