DP Course Assessment

C-PP Assessment

In most subjects at least some of the assessment is carried out by C-PP’s trained DP teachers, who mark (grade)individual pieces of work produced as part of a course of study. Examples include oral exercises in language subjects, projects, student portfolios, class presentations, practical laboratory work, mathematical investigations and artistic performances.

Additional assignments, such as written assignments for Language A & B, essays for Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essays are graded by C-PP teachers.  Samples are then sent to external IB examiners where the grading is reviewed by the examiners and grades may be adjusted to support IB’s world-wide standards.

Examinations Conducted and Reviewed by IB

Each May, final examinations are conducted and graded by International Baccalaureate North America to maintain objectivity and consistency across IB schools. These externally marked examinations form the greatest share of the assessment for each subject. Results are provided to schools and students each July.
