Training for Teachers

District leaders are committed to providing all appropriate IB training to faculty and staff on a continuing basis. To date, more than 250 C-PP teachers and administrators have been formally trained in the IB programs.

C-PP has been privileged to host three national IB training conferences, saving more than $500,000 in travel expenses that would have been spent if our teachers were sent to other locations for the same training.

In addition to the formal IB training at sites throughout North America, C-PP continues to bring IB experts to the District to work with C-PP staff for both the Diploma and Middle Years Programs. In the DP, consultants work with teachers in specific subject areas on the required internal and external assessments. In the MYP, the IB consultants work with teachers in each subject area on the development of instructional units and assessment tasks. Beginning in 2008, the District will also bring in experts on instructional strategies such as reading in the content area to support the program. “Our folks are already well versed in the IB content areas, so this approach addresses very specific needs of our own teachers,” says MYP Coordinator Eileen Bowen.
