Who Can Offer the IB The quality of the IB education is so superb that 2,172 schools in 125 countries have instituted the programs. In the U.S. alone there are 684 IB schools, including 39 in New York State, and the numbers are continuing to grow. In fact, the U.S. government is investing $124 million to increase the number of students in IB programs, with a goal of having 1.5 million enrolled by 2012. |

Before offering the IB programs, schools must engage in a stringent, multi-year authorization process. C-PP’s path to IB began in 2004, and involved rigorous preparation, planning and extensive teacher training. As part of the application process, District staff completed an exhaustive, multi-year application and hosted two-day site visits by IB officials for both MYP authorization and DP authorization. |

Ø In April 2005, C-PP was authorized to offer the Diploma Program at East and West High Schools beginning in September 2005. Ø In February 2006, IBO World Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland notified C-PP officials of Middle Years Program Authorization. |

The Corning-Painted Post Area School District has the distinction of being the first and only public school district New York State authorized to offer IB programs to ALL secondary students. Corning Free Academy, Northside Blodgett, East and West High Schools are official IB “World Schools” and are authorized to display the International Baccalaureate World School symbol. With IB, there is a distinct and positive difference in the way we teach C-PP secondary students. |
